Pawsitivity
Privacy Policy
Effective July 15, 2026
This policy explains what Pawsitivity collects, why, and the choices you have. SelfWell operates Pawsitivity. We built it to be a private, gentle place — the short version is below, with the details after.
The short version
- We don't sell your data, and we don't show ads.
- Your entries — moods, gratitude, intentions, notes, and photos — are private to you. We don't share them with other people.
- You can erase your account and entries at any time from inside the app (Settings → Disclaimer & Your Data → Delete my data).
- A few things are unavoidably visible to others or kept for support — those are spelled out honestly below.
Information we collect
Account & sign-in
You can use Pawsitivity in one of two ways. If you sign in with Google, we receive your account identifier, email address, display name, and profile photo from Google. If you continue as a guest, we create an anonymous app-generated identifier only — no name, email, or photo — and you can link a Google account later while keeping the same data.
Your entries
The heart of the app: your daily moods and emotions, optional free-text notes, gratitude items, intentions, custom tasks, breathing sessions, and the streak, treats, and cosmetics you earn. These are stored privately under your account.
Check-in photos
If you add a photo to a check-in, it is stored privately with your account and is never used for advertising or sent to our AI provider.
Friends & presence (only if you use social features)
Adding a friend is optional and mutual — you share a short code, and a friendship is only created once you both agree. If you do, we store the friendship (including both people's display names) and a lightweight "presence" record. Accepted friends can see your name and whether you checked in today — and nothing else. They cannot see your moods, notes, entries, or your streak.
Feedback & bug reports
If you send feedback or report a bug from inside the app, we receive your message (a rating and/or text) along with your account identifier, email, display name, and app version, so we can understand and respond to it.
On your device
The app keeps small preference flags in your browser's local storage (for example, whether you've seen a one-time prompt, and your AI-reflections setting) and an offline cache of your own data so it works smoothly. This stays on your device.
How we use your information
- To provide the app and sync your entries across your devices.
- To generate the optional written reflections (see AI reflections below).
- To respond to your feedback and bug reports.
- To keep the service secure and working.
We do not use your entries to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your data.
AI reflections
Pawsitivity can write gentle reflections for you using Google Gemini. When this is on, only your moods, gratitude, and intentions are sent to Google to generate them — never your private check-in notes and never your photos. You can turn these reflections off at any time (Settings → Disclaimer & Your Data), which stops the requests entirely. Google's processing of that data is also governed by Google's privacy policy.
Who we share information with
We don't sell your information or share your entries with other people. We do rely on a small set of service providers to run the app, and your data passes through them:
- Google Firebase — authentication and database (where your account and entries are stored).
- Google Gemini — the AI that writes reflections, when you have that feature on (moods, gratitude, and intentions only).
- Vercel — hosting for the app and this website.
Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Keeping & deleting your data
We keep your entries until you delete them or delete your account. From inside the app, Delete my data (Settings → Disclaimer & Your Data) permanently erases your account and your entries — moods, gratitude, intentions, notes, photos, streak, treats, and your social footprint (friendships, presence, and your friend code).
One honest exception: any feedback or bug reports you chose to send us are kept separately for support and product history, and they include your email and display name. These are not removed automatically when you delete your account. If you'd like us to delete those too, email hello@selfwell.ai and we'll remove them.
Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Pawsitivity gives you direct control over most of this:
- Access & delete: your entries are yours to read in the app, and Delete my data erases them.
- Opt out of AI: turn off AI reflections any time.
- We don't sell data, so there is nothing to opt out of there.
To exercise any right — including deletion of residual feedback/bug-report data — contact hello@selfwell.ai. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Security
Access to your data is restricted to your account by server-side security rules, and data is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is ever 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what is collected in the first place.
Children
Pawsitivity is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact hello@selfwell.ai and we'll delete it.
International processing
Our service providers (Google and Vercel) may process and store data in the United States and other countries. By using Pawsitivity, you understand your information may be processed in these locations.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes, we'll update the effective date above, and we'll note anything significant. Continued use of Pawsitivity after an update means you accept the revised policy.
